The Decatur County Board of Education proudly recognized students from the Bainbridge Middle School Robotics Team during the February board meeting, celebrating their outstanding achievements at the First LEGO League Regional Competition held at Bainbridge Middle School on December 13.

Members of the two BMS teams—The Techno Treasures and The Sand Stormers—were honored for their creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills demonstrated throughout the competition. During the meeting, students also presented their robotics displays and projects, giving district leaders, board members, and community attendees an up-close look at the research, engineering design, and coding strategies behind their work.

The regional competition itself was an exciting showcase of STEM learning. Teams from several schools gathered to present innovative robot designs and research projects built around the year’s theme. Throughout the day, students rotated through multiple competition areas including the robot game field, judging tables, robot design presentations, and the innovation project expo.
Bainbridge Middle School’s teams performed exceptionally well throughout the competition. The Techno Treasures earned 1st place in the Innovation Project category, while The Sand Stormers were named the overall Grand Champions. The two teams also rotated between first and second place finishes in several competition categories.

The district is incredibly proud of these students and the dedication they showed through months of preparation, collaboration, and creative problem-solving. By presenting their projects at the board meeting, the students gave community leaders a glimpse into the exciting ways they are applying engineering, coding, research, and teamwork.

Their success reflects the growing strength of STEM learning in Decatur County Schools and the curiosity and determination of the students who continue to push their ideas further.
