BMS 4-H Project Achievement students

We’re excited to share that Bainbridge Middle School 4-H’ers distinguished themselves at Rock Eagle on February 21st – 23rd  at the Southwest District Project Achievement competition. Junior/Senior Project Achievement is a challenging two-part competition, in which participants practice mastery in their field of interest through portfolio and presentation.

BMS students attending the contest were:

  • Azriel Bell – Food for Health and Sport – 1st place

  • Corbin Keaton – Human Development – 1st place

  • Lyric Keaton – Performing Arts Dance – 1st place

  • Madison Patrick – 8th grade Poultry – 2nd place

  • Kenan Reffitt – Physical, Biological and Earth Sciences – 1st place

  • Aubree Newman – 7th grade Poultry – 1st place

The 4-H Portfolio is an extensive written record that encompasses a complete calendar year of involvement, leadership, and service in a selected project area. This report includes a person background paragraph, a two-page information sheet highlighting their work and activities, and a page list of supporting material, including photos and other related information. The portfolio composes 40% of the student’s total score in the competition. Also, by preparing a portfolio, young people learn the skills needed to complete college applications, scholarship applications, professional resumes and proposals.

Additionally, 4-H'ers participating in Project Achievement investigate a topic and prepare a demonstration or “illustrated talk” with posters and props. Scores are based on memorization, fluidity, presentation skills, and knowledge of the subject when questioned by the judges. Performing Arts categories require students to perform before judges and an audience.

We are very proud of our hardworking 4-H students and know that you will also want to celebrate their accomplishments.

Also, a special thank you to Ms. Tiffany Rambo, Certified 4-H volunteer. She played an important role in the success of the Decatur County students at the contest. By traveling with the group, encouraging 4-H members, assisting with transporting supplies, capturing photos, and offering constant support. Her dedication to the students and program truly made a difference.
