They successfully traced the energy pathway—beginning with radiant energy from the sun, which is then converted by plants and ultimately stored as chemical potential energy in their bodies (via food).
This stored energy is then converted into kinetic energy (the energy of motion) as they run, pitch, and ultimately transform chemical energy into mechanical energy to powerfully kick the ball! They worked as teams, demonstrating the real-world application of science.

We had such a great time celebrating our Bainbridge Middle School educators during this year’s Grillin’ for the Greatest event! 💜💛
A huge thank you to First National Bank for sponsoring the celebration and for showing up early to grill and serve a delicious meal. Your support means so much to our Bearcat community.
Our Bearcat educators pour their hearts into students every single day, and this event was a special way to say thank you for their dedication, passion, and commitment. We are so grateful for everything they do! 💛🐾💜

Cinderella doesn't seem interested in a Prince since she has so many chores to do. Hopefully your housework can wait for one night to see this magical show!

Educators learned how SPIKE Prime can spark creativity, problem‑solving, and collaboration while supporting STEM and 21st‑century skills across all learning areas all while . building. programming, and testing their skills through new robotics challenges designed to be classroom‑ready and adaptable across disciplines.
Representing Decatur County:
🤖Melissa Brock, Media Specialist & Instructional Technology (Bainbridge High School)
🤖Mary Jo Boutwell, STEM & WOZ ED Instructor and Instructional Technology Coach (Bainbridge Middle School)
🤖Amy Zock, Director of Instructional and Innovative Technology (Bainbridge High School)
Now our Decatur County educators will develop integrated lesson plans that incorporate SPIKE Prime robotics for grades 6–12, aligning projects to specific content standards so teachers across subject areas can use robotics to deepen learning. These will be shared with the Coca Cola Space and Science Center and other educators across Southwest Georgia to facilitate increased use of robotics in all content areas as an engaging way to prepare students for the future while developing essential problem solving skills.
Thank you to Rontra Brown, the Coca‑Cola Space & Science Center team, and all participating teachers for investing in high‑quality professional learning. We’re excited to see the innovative, standards‑aligned classroom experiences that follow

🎓 Progress Reports Coming Soon! 🎓

Over the last few weeks in Mr. Perry’s ELT class, students have been designing, building, and testing homemade catapults! Teams dove into engineering, teamwork, and creative problem solving — and they clearly understood the assignment from the very first launch.
Competitions were held across three thrilling categories:
Distance: Which catapult could fling the projectile the farthest?
Tower: Which design built the sturdiest launch platform and structure?
Accuracy: Which team could hit the target dead center, every time?
The room buzzed with measuring, tweaking, and cheering as students adjusted angles, swapped materials, and celebrated successful launches. Great work, everyone — innovation, perseverance, and collaboration were the real winners these past weeks. Can’t wait to see what the class next builds!

Canned Goods for a Cause — Congratulations to our Top Classrooms!
Mr. Perry's 6th grade homeroom takes first with an impressive 211 lbs, followed by Ms. Martinez's 6th grade homeroom with 169 lbs, and Ms. Kelly's 7th grade homeroom with 148 lbs.
Great teamwork — every can counts!

Schools will be closed Friday, Nov. 21 – Friday, Nov. 28.
(Teacher Professional Development Day – Nov. 21)
We hope everyone enjoys a safe and restful Thanksgiving break!

Bainbridge Middle School 4-H Teen Leads were in action last Saturday guiding and supporting younger 4-H competitors at The Decatur County 4-H Cloverleaf Project Achievement held at Hutto Elementary.

Students in Ms. Rambo's 8th grade science classes put physics into motion — testing potential vs. kinetic energy. They measured how stored energy converts to motion, recorded results, and compared predictions to outcomes. Curious minds + hands-on experiments = big learning!
